a soft variant that's better than the original

Some companies have released a “soft” variant of their most popular polyester strings because they are realizing that originals were way too stiff and were destroying arms.

But most “soft” polyesters versions aren’t very soft, in my opinion (it’s all relative, right?). They’re mostly still stiffer than a nylon and sometimes worse (I’m looking at you Luxilon “softs”…). Some hold tension worse and some still go dead in an hour (I’m looking at you Luxilon ALU power “soft”). However Solinco’s soft variant of their famed Hyper G is, in my opinion, JUST AS GOOD as the original if not better. It is truly softer (has the stiffness of a nylon), holds tension just as well and stays playable and lively for a very good amount of time for a polyester (15-20 hours for me). It’s truly an extraordinary new string from an extraordinary new company.

Solinco is an American company that is making waves in NCAA collegiate and also professional tennis. The Solinco strings I’ve chosen are pretty darn amazing for spin, tension maintenance and longevity. Yes, it lasts just a little longer than normal poly (a few hours of play) which, I think, makes it pretty special. Plus these particular strings only loose about 25% of tension (normally poly loses 40-60% of their tension) which is unheard of for polys. And their edges (4 or 6 sided) more than satisfy the need to spin the ball.

For a softer, more comfortable feel, you can hybrid with natural or black PEEK in the crosses to give you a more gut-like comfort without losing ANY of the ability to spin the ball
